Watt Knots is in early development. We are not yet ready to talk about what we are building. We are ready to make the case for why it is needed, and to start the right conversations.

Our mission

Optimise every watt aboard. Plug the gaps. Reduce and ultimately eliminate fossil fuels at sea.

Watt Knots makes electric propulsion work for the most adventurous sailors. Using advanced telemetry and software, we tie together the propulsion, battery and energy-management systems that today rarely talk to each other, and optimise how every watt aboard is generated, stored and used: for safety, comfort and cost.

Where the right component doesn't yet exist, we build it, plugging the gaps that stop electric working in the real world. We partner with the leading electric-propulsion manufacturers and forward-thinking boat builders to complement the best propulsion in the market, not compete with it.

We are in early development and under wraps. The opinions we publish, the standards we cite, and the credentials we list are the things we can legitimately stand behind now. The product, when it is ready, will speak for itself.

Watt Knots

Richard founded Watt Knots to address a gap he identified through direct experience with marine electrical systems: the absence of an integrated, thermally-coherent energy solution at the vessel level. His work is grounded in British Marine-certified training in both marine electrical systems and electric propulsion, combined with an engineering-led analysis of the market opportunity.

The company is in early product development. The founding team is not yet fully named publicly. We are focused on getting the engineering right before making the team legible.
